It started in Cullman in 1951, when Werner's Trading Company opened as an army surplus store. Over the decades, it grew into Cullman's apparel, shoe and outdoor destination — the kind of place where a family could find work boots, a grill for the backyard, and a gift for grandma in a single visit.
In 2022, the second generation of the Werner family retired and sold the store to Britt and Laura Wood. Two years later, the Woods opened Wood's Trading Company in Gardendale — a modern flagship carrying that same tradition forward, with a full online store shipping nationwide.

Wood's Trading Company
Opened by Britt and Laura Wood in November 2024, Wood's Trading Company was built from a vision to bring something special to Gardendale, Alabama.
As longtime residents of the community, Britt and Laura spent years planning and working to create a destination offering brands and products that had never been available on this side of town.
Their commitment extends beyond the store. Wood's proudly supports local high school fishing teams, the community pickleball facility, and charitable organizations including The Miracle League.

Werner's Trading Company
For more than 70 years, Werner's has been a constant in the city of Cullman. Originally opened in 1951 as an army surplus store, Werner's gradually became a trusted destination for apparel, footwear and outdoor essentials.
In 2022, the second generation of the Werner family decided it was time to retire and passed the business along to the Wood family.
Following a full remodel and a new chapter under the Wood family, Werner's may look a little different, but the mission established in 1951 remains the same: serving the Cullman community with quality products and exceptional customer service.
